Self-care

Self-care is the first step in building a personal foundation - and its not about being selfish! As parents, partners, friends and family we rarely consider our own needs first. Just as we are instructed in pre-flight safety demonstrations, in case of an airline emergency we must put the oxygen mask on ourselves first, then help those around us. This theory applies on the ground too.

If you want to transform your life, you need to put yourself first on your 'to do' list, even if it means scheduling time to relax or workout! Self-care is a basic in success planning, and yes it does include all the things we know we should be doing to benefit our health - eating well, maintaining our fitness and having regular preventative health checks.

Brainstorm ideas that you may like to commit to in your own life - are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating balanced, healthy meals? Are you exercising regularly? Are you taking time to rest and relax? Don't stop at just asking yourself these questions - put a plan in place today to make changes.

Be assertive in taking time to look after yourself, reminding those around you that they will also benefit from your well-being!

Don't forget to treat yourself and take time out for pampering, this is often the first self-care basic to drop from our lives when we get busy, and it can have such a positive long term impact if we honour it. Make self-care an absolute top priority, after all you are your own best asset.
